Day Sixteen and Seventeen: Back-Up Plans, Empowerment and Christmas with My Best Friend!

It's been a rather busy weekend so I didn't quite get around to posting one blog post for yesterday so we're going to have to settle for a 2-in-1 tonight.

DAY SIXTEEN

I wanted to write this day off. I was feeling pretty down. Some plans that I was looking forward to were canceled and it was disappointing. I keep rooting for certain people to surprise me and prove the little voices that are screaming "They aren't going to impress you" in my head wrong, but so far I seem to just always be right. And that's not as fun as it sounds. So I was trying to figure out how to stay positive. Someone said to me the other day that a couple of my posts weren't so uplifting...kind of implying that they were sort of downers, And I explained that that's kind of the point of this. It's supposed to be realistic - people aren't deliriously happy every single day of their lives. This blog is meant to face the reality that some days feel like they suck, but how can we be inspired to find the positives within a rough day?

So here is what I focused on. I went to see people who I knew would make me feel loved and supported. For me that's my parents. Plus, I haven't seen my Dad in a couple weeks so it was nice to catch up after his latest business trip. We put the finishing touches on their house's Christmas decorations by putting together our miniature Christmas Village. This has been something I have loved ever since I was a little girl. I will be 90 years old and it will have a room of it's own and I will be so proud of it. I love that little village. It is a huge part of our Christmas tradition to me and it is so special to me. Then we sat down and watched a movie together and it was nice to feel like we were back in time when I used to live at home and we would all gather in the TV room to watch something together. It was a lovely time.

The night finished off nicely when my favourite mezzo arrived on her train from London to stay with me for the evening. I don't get to see her that often since we don't go to school anymore so I was so happy to have her with me!

DAY SEVENTEEN

Let me say that the day started with sleeping in so it was automatically a good day. I have cheated for a couple days and forgotten to do my yoga but I made no excuses today and got back on that mat. Then celebrated with an amazing breakfast. There is a Japanese Pancake place near my house and I think me and my friend stopped talking for a the full 10 minutes it took us to wolf down that food. I got to give her a little neighbourhood tour before waving her off to begin her journey home for the holidays.

But the fun didn't stop there! I decided to treat myself to a little pamper and met my best friend to get our nails done. I don't do this often but i thought I might since I've got some special events coming up this holiday season. And then we celebrated our Christmas together before she also went home for the holidays! She was so lovely and got me a diffuser for Christmas. Don't you love when someone knows you so well that they end up getting you something on your wish list without them even knowing? I think that is such a wonderful feeling. It's not even about the gift itself (although I am in love) it's just so reassuring that someone pays attention and has made and effort to know you. That's a nice feeling.

I was sad to say goodbye after copious amounts of food and wine, but I have an early morning and a busy week ahead. And she won't be gone for too long!

Sorry for the long one tonight but I'm going to try to avoid doubling up in the future if I can! A girl with 2 jobs, a social life and also Christmas coming up can only keep up with so much in a day!

Hope you have had a lovely day sixteen and seventeen!
