Day 23 - Merry Christmas Eve Eve

Well folks we’re coming to the end! This year definitely hasn’t been as “festive” as other years, but it has really put to the test the whole point of this blog. There were a lot of moments when I was upset or having a hard time that I just didn’t want to even write a post. I wanted to sit in the negative space and stay there! But! I think we came out of this okay! There is still one more day though! It’s not over yet!

Today, in honor of Christmas Eve Eve, I whipped out almost all the stops of my Christmas accesorizing. You can’t reaaaaly see it but just know that I am wearing red and green beneath the black, green ribbon in my hair, christmas necklace, Christmas rings, and Christmas earrings. Serious business. While at work I treated myself to a little Sephora purchase…I was running out of a couple things and thought…what better time to treat myself to a restock than Christmas?

When I got home my parents and I took a drive around the neighbourhood to see the Christmas lights. Honestly there weren’t as many as I had hopes to see but I took photos of some of the highlights. I made them play Christmas music the whole time and we brought hot chocolate with Amaretto (don’t worry my Dad was DD and my Mom and I were on our best behaviour).

After that I met up with my boys - I have a tradition with these guys to take family photos every year at Christmas time. Unfortunately with the numbers and the request that we don’t leave the house except for essentials, and only one of us with a car, we weren’t able to meet up or do a gift exchange. Hopefully in January. Maybe we can make it a little belated Christmas photo from 6ft apart somehow. Despite that, I was still happy to get to see them before Christmas! We chatted and all wore something festive and since we didn’t have long tried to pick something short to watch. Without totally knowing what we were getting ourselves into we ended up watched an animated kids short, sort of a How to Train Your Dragon spinoff but it was about “Christmas” or “Odenyule” as they called it. It was silly and very clearly for children but I thought it was fun. We all got to laugh at the fact that we were watching it together, and tease the movie a bit from an adults perspective. There’s also the part where we decide which character everyone is. Ha! So anyway it wasn’t a long visit because I was exhausted but it was worth it! I am missing our traditions but we will just have to make it all up next year!

I am looking forward to Christmas Eve! I’m excited to be at work which is weird, but in the past when I don’t work Christmas Eve I get FOMO and so I’m glad to be there with people I like working with. We’ll see what tomorrow brings!

Goodnight!

P.S.
