Day Twenty - Festive Mall Walks and Annual Friend-mas!

Well it was a rough and later morning than I had planned but I had the whole day off and was looking forward to a day with some of my favourite people! First step was putting on a face, festive earrings and compensating for my sleepiness with lots of sparkle! I headed out to the other end of town to visit with one of my best friends and my godson. I can’t believe he’s already 1 - every time I see him he gets older. Whenever I’m with these two it’s like everything is just a little bit lighter. Did I already say that once this year? Well, I mean it so much that it’s worth saying it twice if I did. I am so grateful to have a safe place to go when everything sucks - where I have permission to just be, and to feel loved and accepted even when I make mistakes or am feeling off. We did a little last minute holiday shopping and thanks to my students I treated us to some festive drinks. We also remembered to eat which may not seem like much but sometimes the day just gets away from you and I’m glad we have each other to make sure we both eat!

Despite the caffeine, I was still really struggling energy-wise and knew that if I was going to make it through the next part of my day I was going to need to rest a bit. As soon as I got home I was nursing a headache and passed out in bed almost immediately. It was such a good sleep - too good. I woke up and realized my alarm never went off and I had slept through the first 30minuts of my friendmas!! Luckily I have friends who are very understanding and I made it just in time to remember that I forgot half the gifts at home so it’s a good thing my friend lives close by!

We caught up, opened gifts from each other and watched the Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie and 10/10 would recommend. Honestly way better than I expected, but I’ve also seen some pretty awful Christmas movies so take that opinion with a grain of salt. Bubbly was had, food was eaten and I feel so lucky to have such thoughtful friends who give such thoughtful gifts! I forgot to take photos but stay tuned for day 21 and I will try to remember to take photos!

Then it was back home and working away at the last couple home-made gifts still on my list before passing out one last time!

Tomorrow is my last day of teaching and it guarantees to be a busy day so I will do my best to capture the moments as they happen.
