Day Twenty-One - Last Day Teaching and Late Night Embroidery

Wowza! Last day of teaching did not fail to serve hectic, chaotic, never stop moving energy. I still had a few finishing touches to make on my EMBROIDERY project which I can say now because I’ve officially given all the gifts out to people who I know might read this. I’ve been working very hard to keep any spoilers so now I can finally share some of what I’ve been working on! I did forget to take after pictures of every single one that I worked on. I’ve really enjoyed doing this as a gift - not only was I able to design things which each person in mind, I really loved the routine of winding down for the night to something calming and relaxing, and I think I’m starting to get really good at embroidery too!

So after finishing up my gifts I got myself ready for the day - 2pm matinee and then straight to teaching from there. One of my students didn’t show up so I used that time to get things organized for recitals so that I would have one less thing to do over the next couple days. All students got their cards and treats and we had a fun lesson singing some Christmas carols - sometimes it’s nice just to spend time singing our favourite songs without worrying about how we sound - just enjoying the moment.

I checked my mail for the first time in a while - I don’t usually get to much mail but lo and behold I had a whole handful of cards! My Christmas card display is growing every day. I love getting cards or letters in the mail - it’s just something that’s still so exciting. I vowed to keep all the envelopes so I have addresses and can maybe send my own cards next year!

I had some more gifts to get organized, wrap and tidy up my apartment a bit! I put my pajamas on and settled in for some more embroidering and then tucked myself right into bed and the early hour of 2am. Been a while since I had a night as late as that but soon I will be able to sleep without setting any alarms the next day. Unfortunately that day is not tomorrow and I have a slowly shrinking to do list to tackle and some fun to be had.

Drink lots of water, don’t forget to eat and carve out at least ten minutes to do something for you today.

Back again tomorrow!
