Day Seven - Happy Hanukkah, Cozy Friend Day and Dress Rehearsals!

First of all, happy first day of Hanukkah to those celebrating! I would love to know about your favourite Hanukkah traditions - what do you most look forward to?

For me day seven started just like every morning should with a cat on my lap! Although I’m pretty sure it’s just her way of saying, “Human please get up and feed me”, we still enjoy some purrs and pets before I eventually got started!

I pretty much just rolled out of bed and threw some clothes on and headed into my old neighborhood to meet up with my friend. She is still on mat. leave and we try to see each other once a week. I’ve been feeling a bit off and definitely needed some time with her. I always feel a little bit warmer, and the fog always feels a little lighter after spending time with her. We don’t get up to much except a meal and maybe a walk around the mall, but I really value the time she and I and her baby get to spend together while she’s not working. So anyway she made us pumpkin pancakes and “winter spice” coffee and then I needed black socks for my performances so we walked to the mall and found a holiday market while we were there - it was pretty empty but it was a nice little activity that was free to explore.

Then it was time for me to head home, get myself ready and have a bite to eat before heading out for the night for another dress rehearsal. They do an “open dress” and give tickets to folks who might not otherwise be able to see the show at the regular show prices and so it was kind of fun to have an audience even though it wasn’t technically a show day yet! It was kind of cool to be downtown at night and see all the lights up and all the trees in the buildings - city hall even had a giant menorah out front!!

Wishing those celebrating a warm, safe Hanukkah with ones you love as you celebrate over the next week. Don’t forget to tell me all about your traditions!

An exciting day coming up tomorrow!
